Cold Brew Guide
Slow, unhurried, and endlessly rewarding. Cold brew draws out the gentler side of coffee, coaxing out sweetness and body without any of the bitterness that heat can bring. It is the brew for those who like their mornings smooth, or their afternoons quiet.
What You'll Need
- Large mason jar or cold brew pitcher
- Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
- Kitchen scale
- Burr grinder
- Measuring jug
- Airtight storage bottle
Recipe
- Coffee: 75g
- Water: 600ml
- Water temperature: Cold or room temp
- Grind size: Coarse
- Total brew time: 12 to 18 hours
- Yield: Approx. 500ml concentrate
Steps
Weigh and coarsely grind 75g of your chosen beans. Darker roasts bring out rich chocolate depth; lighter roasts lift fruit and brightness.
Add the ground coffee into your mason jar or cold brew pitcher.
Pour 600ml of cold or room temperature water over the grounds, making sure all the coffee is saturated.
Stir gently to incorporate, then seal the container.
Refrigerate for 12 to 18 hours. The longer it steeps, the deeper and richer the flavor.
Strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle, discarding the grounds.
Serve over ice, straight or diluted 1:1 with water or milk. Store in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Tips
Try a naturally processed bean for cold brew. The fruit-forward sweetness, think Dark Honey, Dried Mango, Brown Sugar, deepens beautifully in a long steep.
Do not steep for more than 20 hours. Over-extraction can turn the concentrate bitter and mask the origin notes you paid attention to.
Dilute to taste. Rositas cold brew concentrate is meant to be a starting point, not a fixed recipe. Make it yours.
